Alistair Shaw, Practice Partner at Ice Clinic, is set to swim the English Channel raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity
Alistair Shaw, one of our Practice Partner’s at Ice Clinic in Ampthill and Olney is a member of the Flitwick Dolphins Channel Relay team. The team consists of swimmers from the age of 12 upwards.
In July 2017, they will be swimming the English Channel – 21 miles or more (depending on the tide) – the ultimate open water challenge!
The team are undertaking this challenge to raise money and awareness for various charities selected by members of the team.
The charities chosen are:
· Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity
· Save the Children
· World Vision UK
· Vasculitis UK
Alistair has chosen Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity as it is a charity very close to his family after his youngest son spent 1 month there a week after being born after having extensive heart surgery due to a congenital defect.
Alistair and the team have been training hard, and have been on several trips to Dover, swimming in temperatures of between 14 and 16 degrees with no protection.
Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor the team and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity’s behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
